The streets of South Hill came alive once again with a colorful light display on December 19th, 2019, when the South Hill Community Club hosted their 7th annual South Hill Christmas Experience & Lighting Parade.
The action kicked off with breakfast from 7 am where hot cakes, salt fish and lionfish amongst other food items were sold. The rock oven kept busy all day baking Johnny cakes which most festival goers requested with butter as the only accompaniment.
There was live entertainment by Mystic Vibes, DJ Legend, Overdrive String Band, DJ Sugar, Vhenum Band and FWD (From Within Dance) Group.
For the Parade, both adults and children, decorated in their glow sticks, followed the lighted floats around Back Street. The pulsating sounds from the drumming of the Boys Brigade and the rhythm from the DJ were the musical entertainment for the parade. Additionally, following the parade, gifts and cupcakes were given to the children.

Another highlight of the event was the Outdoor House Decorating Contest where residents of the South Hill Village decorate the outside of their homes to be judged. The winners and their themes for this year’s competition are as follows:
2nd Runner Up – Mr. & Mrs. Perry Hughes
