‘International Volunteer Day’ is a great opportunity to recognize and show appreciation to volunteers. The United Nations Volunteer (UNV) 2019 theme is ‘Volunteer for an inclusive future’. On Thursday 5th December the Anguilla Red Cross held a volunteer award ceremony at Tackling where many volunteers were recognized for their dedication and support to the fundamental principles of the non profit organization. The ceremony was attended by His Excellence the Governor Tim Foy and the Patron Dr. Dana Foy.
Over the years, Anguilla Red Cross volunteers have been a growing part of our community. Their extraordinary contributions were recognized in 2017, after hurricane Irma, by British Red Cross when the organization was awarded with the highest honour in the Red Cross movement: the ‘Henry Dunant Award’. This award recognizes the outstanding service and acts of great devotion by the volunteers.
The honourees were:

• Jiva Niles
• Cleve Whyte
