The Royal Anguilla Police Force have observed that it’s becoming common practice by owners and users of motor vehicles on the roads of Anguilla to tint the front windows of their vehicle and or, apply low transmission tint to the other windows and rear windscreen of their vehicle, which is not in keeping with what is prescribed in the Vehicle and Road Traffic Act. Please be advised that this is an offence and should be discontinued immediately.
Section 69 (1) of the Vehicle and Road Traffic Act states:
Every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle, intended to be driven on a road shall comply with the following requirement: –
(a) Subject to paragraph (b), the front windscreen and the front side windows shall be of clear glass;
(b) The front windscreen may have at the top thereof, a strip of tinted glass of any degree of light transmission, not exceeding 5 inches in width measured from top of the windscreen;
(c) The rear window and rear windscreen, may have affixed on them any film, tint or other obscuring device by a process application as to allow a minimum 50% visual transmission of light through the windows

76.(1) Subject to section 77, no person shall drive on a road a motor vehicle not in compliance with this part unless such person has applied in writing for, and there is in force in relation to the vehicle, a permit issued under second 74.
(2) A person who acts in contravention of the provisions of subsection (1) is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine of $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term of 6 months or to both, and in the case of a second or subsequent conviction either to a fine of $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of one year or to both.
As of 7th November 2019, the RAPF will be fully enforcing the law with regards to tint. Please be guided accordingly.
