On Sunday October 27th, the Rotary Club of St Maarten Mid-Isle, held the semi-final of the 8th Annual Rotary Rotaract Spelling Bee in St. Maarten.
The Rotary Club of Anguilla travelled to St. Maarten on the Niki V boat with the three Anguillian semi-finalists from The Valley Primary and Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary Schools, along with teachers and parents.
At the Spelling Bee, each student had two rounds of ten words to spell out in front of the judges.
Our semi finalists Emily Williams, Makalia Richardson and Jahselah Bruno did an amazing job and they are officially qualified for the final round of the Spelling Bee!
They will be competing against two other finalists next Sunday, November 3rd! Come out and show your support.
Let’s wish all the competitors the best as they aim for success! Our contestants have amazing support from their parents, teachers, friends and community. Let’s keep cheering them on!
We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors, The Anguilla Social Security Board for their financial support and to the owners of the Niki V, Samantha and Excellence boats, who have offered to transport the contestants at no cost.
Thanks is also extended to the parents of the students and all the teachers, chaperones and coaches who have worked with them thus far.
Last and by no means least, thank you to all Rotarians, family, friends and well wishers who will be following the competition from Anguilla and those traveling with us for moral support.
Best wishes to you!!
