Despite several setbacks, Taizdaze Charity has successfully completed their 2nd annual Operation Back to School drive. The annual initiative, which was the first task they took on after registering the organization in 2018, provided students with backpacks filled with essential school supplies.

After the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma, Taizdaze Charity recognized the disadvantages many students were subjected to as a result of financial struggles faced by their families. Nevertheless, in an effort to maximize the potential of students in the classroom, the members of the Charity set sail on their journey yet again to equip them with tools suitable for receiving a quality education.

The organization reached out to the community via several social media platforms with intentions of compiling a list of students in need of assistance for the 2019-2020 school year. In an effort to expand their reach, students from all primary schools and the secondary school received backpacks, as opposed to merely primary school students.

Distribution was carried out on two days, August 31st and September, 28th 2019, because to unforeseen circumstances which arose due to shipping.

Again, fundraising proved to be one of the most challenging aspects of this initiative. It is through the benevolence of the donors that the vision of the Taizdaze Charity was brought to fruition. With the assistance of generous donors, Taizdaze Charity equipped 175 primary and secondary students collectively with a school bag filled with essential school supplies, an increase from last year’s initiative.

Platinum Donor: Vita Malt.
Gold Donors: Black Orchid Events
Silver Donors: Department of Youth and Culture, Social Security Board, Four Seasons Resort and Residences, Creative Entertainment.
Bronze Donors: Ruby Red, Two Sons Funeral Home, Anguilla Travel Services.

For Grades K-3 students, the package included: (1) backpack, (1) pencil case, (3) #2 pencils, (1) 6-pack of crayons, (1) folder, (2) erasers, (2) spiral notebooks, (2) black & white composition books, (1) sharpener, (1) glue stick and (1) 12-inch ruler.

For Grades 4-6 and secondary school students, the package included: (1) backpack, (1) pencil case, (3) #2 pencils, (3) pens, (1) 6-pack of crayons, (1) folder, (2) erasers, (2) spiral notebooks, (2) black & white composition books, (1) sharpener, (1) highlighter, (1) glue stick and (1) 12-inch ruler.

A hearty thank you is extended to all those who made this initiative possible. We look forward to continuously sowing seeds in Anguilla by playing our role in youth development.
