The Anguilla Amateur Body building and Fitness Association was represented at the 40th CAC games in San Juan Puerto Rico from Sept 20th to Sept 23rd. The group of 11, who travelled consisted of 3 athletes, 2 delegates and 6 supporters.
Participating in these extremely highly competitive games were 155 athletes , representing 27 countries in 24 categories. The Anguilla athletes, Vernon Carty, Duquaine Brooks and Myron Connor, made good showing in their categories: Masters over 40 plus and Heavyweight, Lightweight and the newly introduced category Men’s Physique respectively. Myron Connor (who placed fourth in the Men’s Physique category) and Duquaine Brooks who have experienced CAC for the first time have garnered valuable knowledge that will help them improve their preparation for future games.
This year five Pro Cards were given to the athletes who won overall in the various categories. They were the Female Body Fitness Athlete -Barbados; Female Fitness athlete -Trinidad and Tobago; Female Body building athlete – Curacao; Male Super Heavyweight – Curacao and Male Heavyweight -Curacao.
Barbados team once again won the overall CAC championship award.
At the administration level, the decision was taken to have Santo Domingo host the 2013 CAC games after Anguilla declined. In addition, in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the CAC Games, all member countries and their Presidents were given commemorative awards. These were presented to Joseph Pradel, President of the Anguilla Amateur and Fitness Association.
