On September 11th, as a gesture of benevolence and goodwill, the youth arm of the Seventh-day Adventist Church showed its appreciation to the Alwyn Allison Richardson Primary School by donating two much needed bookshelves.
It was in the spirit of giving back that the presentation was made, for the church had used the school as accommodation, during the Summer vacation, to house its youth camp.
Ms. Jennyville Smith, Island Youth Area Coordinator, and Mr. Junnie Fleming, Pathfinder Area Coordinator, did the handover on behalf of the church’s youth. Ms. Smith commented: “During the month of March, we had initiated our Adopt a School programme at this school, and our youth camp was held here this past Summer.
“We learnt that the school was setting up a staff lounge and we thought it would be a great opportunity to show our appreciation by giving back something tangible and lasting. Hence, we have donated these two wonderful locally crafted bookshelves which we think would make a great complement to the teachers’ lounge. Whenever we have a youth camp we make sure that we give back something in gratitude for the facility that we utilize.”
Jennyville and Junnie were accompanied by the new Pastor of the South Hill / West End congregation, Pastor Lester Jules, as well as youth representatives from the church.
The Pastor offered a prayer of blessing upon the teachers and the students during their assembly. In addition, Dr. Vincent David, Director of the North Caribbean Conference of the Church, addressed the school via social media and expressed his sincere gratitude for the use of the school which he described as a wonderful venue for the youth camp, and he encouraged the students to take care of their school.
On Behalf of the staff, the Principal Ms Trisha Richardson, expressed hearty thanks to the Pastor and the church for their generous gesture of goodwill.
