After commanding the stage at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre with stunning performances in all five segments of the Miss Tiny Tott Pageant, nine-year-old Alissa Hodge took home the title of Miss Tiny Tott 2019. In her journey to the crown, she won three of the five segments – Introductory Speech, Recyclable Wear and Princess Evening Wear – to dominate a field of 5 other contestants. Other segments of the July 14th event included Talent and Dream Profession.
One of the highlights of Alissa’s performance was her Recyclable Wear, ‘Goddess of Culture,’ which depicted our National Bird, the Turtle Dove, and explored our national symbols and elements of our history and culture. Her headwear was a creative crown of our resources and attractions – sun, sand, salt, cotton and boat racing – on the backdrop of a Sea Fan.
Another highlight was her talent where she displayed superb skill and versatility in drama, mime, contortion and trapeze. Alissa captured the hearts of her audience as they were enticed by her inspiring presentation entitled ‘You Must Believe in Yourself!’
Alissa radiated in a spectacular ball gown, illustrated as ‘Beauty in Diversity.’ The magnificent dress was made of aqua blue fabric symbolizing the tranquil waters of Anguilla. It was accented with Swarovski crystals giving the illusion of Anguilla’s white sand, and our National Flower, the White Cedar.
Alissa Hodge is the daughter of Ash and Melody Hodge. They extend their gratitude to the Miss Tiny Tott Committee Chairman, Ms. Patra Brodie, and the other members of her team, for the opportunity that they gave Alissa and other young talented girls in Anguilla each year. They wish to express sincere thanks to all of Alissa’s sponsors including Arian Freight and Customs Brokerage, Kobbe Design, Fair Play Group of Companies, Tropical Treats, Harris Mr. Cool Richardson, Jims Construction, Anguilla Masonry Products, CC Insurance, Banx Professional Services and Loraine Lake.
According to Mr. and Mrs. Hodge, Alissa’s success would not have been possible without her dedicated team including her chaperone, Lisette Richardson, teacher and mentor Chelsey Hughes, and other team members Meesha Richardson and Jermaine Lawson. A big thanks to them as well as to all her contributors, supporters and well-wishers.
