On the evening of Saturday July 6th, members of the Anguilla Lions Club, and invited guests, witnessed the installation of the Board for the Lionistic year 2019/20.

President Natalia Lake, installed by Lion Shaynis Connor, willingly accepted the gavel to lead the Club into the new year.

In her opening statement she offered some inspirational words to members of the Club to which she pledged her commitment and from which she welcomed their support; “I am guaranteed that this journey will not be always smooth but a single head achieves nothing, so I trust that your support and passion for service will assist in leading this Club to a great and very productive year.”

In looking towards her role as President, for the upcoming year, President Natalia stated, “I believe that while integrity, empathy and vision, to name a few, must be present to provide meaningful service to our community, three other elements are vital to its success. They are passion, compassion and a heart for service. In these words, I found the theme for which we would be guided throughout the Lionistic Year 2019-2020: Touching our Community with a Heart of Service and Compassion.”

In her remarks, outgoing President Lion Tiffany Hughes, recounted the challenges of her experience, as President, following the passage of Hurricane Irma and her reluctance, but eventual pride, in agreeing to serve the club for an additional year: “Lionism is dear to my heart as I’ve seen what passion and dedication to serving others can do.”

She paid tribute to Lion Hewlette who passed in 2017 and said that he was “one member who could never say no, and we miss him dearly.” And he thanked the Club members and her Board for their tremendous support during her absence following the birth of her daughter. In her closing remarks she urged incoming President Natalia to “utilize your team and don’t be afraid to ask for help.”

The induction ceremony was conducted by Past Zone Chair, Lion Ernie Hodge-Carty. Those joining the Anguilla Lions Club are Lions Arlette Richardson, Kendran Gumbs and Jocelyn Johnson who pledged to abide by the Lions Code of Ethics, attend meetings whenever possible, and contribute to the programmes of the Club, District and Lions Clubs International.
