Anguillian author, Rosemarie Rey Nunez (Rey N), received special recognition at the 2019 Literary Festival this month in Anguilla as she was the only visiting national among the many writers from abroad.

Rey N, who originally hailed from Island Harbour, resides in Florida. She writes psychological thrillers and detective mysteries, producing her best writing on rainy days while listening to soft music.

Her books are targeted at young and mature adults. The novels she writes have been described as “page-turners with numerous twists and turns, roller coaster rides and plenty of excitement. Her writing keeps you in suspense till the very end.”

The seemingly quiet local novelist told The Anguillian newspaper that she studied computer science and healthcare for the elderly in Florida where she has been living for almost twenty years. Reflecting on earlier years, and about what inspired her to become a writer, she stated:

“From a young kid I used to read a lot of books. I got interested in a lot of detective and FBI movies and that is what inspired me. My books are detective mysteries and psychological thrillers.

“My first book, My Dark Mind Without A Heart, came out in 2013. What inspired me to bring it out was that before my mom (Edris Rey) passed she advised me to continue what I was doing because it was a great book. It was about a detective in pursuit of a serial killer. Another of my books is Ginger Head, a psychological thriller as well.”

Rey N was happy for the opportunity to be in Anguilla after many years – not only in connection with her books and Lit Fest but to interact with family members and other acquaintances.
