The UWI Alumni Association – Anguilla Chapter (UWIAA) – has issued a call for nominations for the 2019 UWI Alumni Awards. At a special Press Conference last week, Vice Presidents, Mr. Colwayne Pickering and Mr. Michael Skellekie, announced that this year the Association will be presenting four awards to UWI Graduates from, or residing on, Anguilla. These include the Pelican Award, the Apex Award, the Pinnacle Award and the Zenith Award.
The Pelican Award is the highest that a UWI Alumni Association Chapter may bestow, and is awarded to a Graduate who has excelled in his/her chosen field and has had major positive national, regional or international impact, or who has contributed significantly to the development of the University, or has made an outstanding contribution to any of the UWI contributing countries of the Caribbean Region.
The Apex Award is presented to Alumni who have made outstanding contributions in Medicine (including Nursing), Law, Education, Youth Development, Social Work/Social Development or Business Development/Administration.
The Pinnacle Award is bestowed on Alumni who have given exceptional service in Anguilla, Regional or International affairs, while the Zenith Award is presented to those graduates who have given exceptional service in support of the advancement and continued excellence of The UWI.
The Awards will be presented at the 2019 UWI Alumni Awards, and the Julian R. Harrigan Fundraiser, in June.
The Association is inviting the general public to make nominations for the above awards. Nomination forms are available online at https://bit.ly/2THSlX5 or from the UWI Open Campus Anguilla. Nominations should be submitted to the UWI Alumni Association, Anguilla Chapter, at email anguilla@open.uwi.edu or to the Open Campus Site Office at Pope Hill, on or before 30th April 2019.
The UWI Alumni Association – Anguilla Chapter – represents graduates from all four Campuses (Mona, St. Augustine, Cave Hill and the Open Campus) as well as graduates of the Distance Learning Programme or School of Continuing Studies who reside on Anguilla.
