In order to further underpin the position of Anguilla as a well-ordered offshore financial centre, the Government of the island has undertaken to take four pieces of legislation to the House of Assembly for passage.

The draft legislation was scheduled to be passed by December 31, 2018, but its passage was delayed by the requirement for public consultation and subsequent amendments. The House of Assembly held its first meeting for 2019, but due to a lack of a quorum, it was not possible for the meeting to continue.

The House met again on Wednesday, January 9, to debate and pass the legislation.
The Government Business listed on the agenda was as follows: a Bill for the Companies (Amendment) Act, 2019, second and third readings; a Bill for a Limited Liability (Amendment) Act, 2019, second and third readings; a Bill for an International Business Companies (Amendment) Act, 2019, second and third readings; and a Bill for a Limited Partnership (Amendment) Act, 2019, second and third readings.
