Ms Sierra Richardson is one of the ACC’s success stories. Driven, committed and confident in her abilities, Sierra started her relationship with the ACC when it was still the Community College Development Unit (CCDU), completing an Events Planning Class that was equal parts fun and skills development.
However, her collegiate career began in 2012, when she enrolled at the ACC to pursue an Associate of Science in Business Studies. Looking back, Sierra describes her experience at the college as being extremely beneficial. More than anything else she places great value on the meaningful relationships she was able to develop with peers and lecturers. “The ACC’s close-knit environment makes learning easier and adds value to the experience there,” she explained.
Like many other ACC Alumni, Sierra worked part time, garnering practical experience and life skills while completing her studies at the ACC. After completing her programme with the ACC in 2015, Ms. Richardson immediately went on to Florida International University (FIU) where, within two years, she completed her Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) majoring in Management and International Business. Her education at the Anguilla Community College proved useful; her credits transferred, thus reducing the number of years she needed to spend to complete her Bachelors degree at FIU and that also meant a reduction in the cost for completing her degree.
Currently, Sierra is employed at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, commonly known as the Governor’s Office, as an Accountant. She enjoys her work and considers herself proficient. Notwithstanding she also has an interest in gaining experience in the business aspects of the Hospitality Industry on Anguilla. Sierra strongly believes that we must all find ways to actively be a part of our tourism product here on island.
The ACC continues to afford motivated individuals the opportunity to obtain tertiary education as well as life long learning opportunities according to their interests, on their terms and in their time.
Sierra Richardson endorses and recommends the ACC – “Building People, Community, Nation.
