An installation service was held at the Mount Fortune Seventh-day Adventist Church on August 4 at which many members from the five congregations were in attendance. In addition to Mount Fortune, the other congregations are Jireh Tabernacle, South Hill; Shemei Tabernacle, Long Bay; the Spanish group; and New Life, the recently-formed congregation at Sandy Hill.

Pastor Williams and his wife were formally welcomed and introduced by the Senior Minister, Pastor Virgil Sams. There were also welcome remarks by all of the Elders who pledged their support, and that of the officers and members of the church, for Pastor Williams.

Following his installation, Pastor Williams expressed heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the warm welcome he and his wife received. He said he was very happy to be inAnguillaand to have been entrusted to minister on the island. His sermon, entitled “It is High Time”, was taken from Romans 13:11. He called on his listeners to awake from their sleep and join him in carrying forward the great commission of the Gospel. Five new members were added to the church.

Pastor Williams is a graduate of the University of the Southern Caribbean inTrinidad. Prior to his appointment to Anguilla, by the North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, he served as an intern and associate pastor inTortolafor three-and-a-half-years. He is an avid cricketer and once played for theLeeward Islands.

His wife, Mrs. Williams, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and a Minor in Chemistry, from Andrews University in Michigan.  She taught Chemistry, Biology, Integrated Science and Bible Studies at the BVI Seventh-dayAdventistSchool, Secondary Division.

Pastor Sams commented that with the steady growth of the church it was necessary to have an additional pastor inAnguilla. “I am quite pleased with the transfer of Pastor Williams [toAnguilla],” he said. “I anticipate achieving greater heights as we work together for the continued growth and spiritual strength of the church. Evangelism has always been a strong thrust among the clergy and membership of this church. On behalf of theSeventh-dayAdventistChurch, it gives us great joy to welcome Pastor Williams and his wife to Anguilla.”
