On the evening of November 20th, the Morris Vanterpool Primary School community and well-wishers, converged at the St. Augustine’s Anglican Church in a celebration in which to recognise their students who performed outstandingly on the various national examinations in the academic year 2017-2018.
Certificate and gifts were presented to Seventy-four (74) students who read on or above their chronological age on the Mcmillian Reading Tests (Grades 3-6) and the National Reading Test (Kindergarten- Grade 2). An additional eleven (11) students were honoured for achieving 80% or above in various subject areas on the Test of Standards examinations.
Making the ceremony even more special was the keynote speaker, Mrs. Vanessa Hobson (Literacy Champion) who in keeping with the theme; “Read to succeed”, conveyed an inspiring message- through the perspective of a child, on the significance of reading.
The audience was entertained by Mr. Tyree Peters (ranked 4th in the region in the music) and Mr. D’mari Gumbs (young gifted musician) who rendered instrumental selections respectively.
The awards ceremony was debuted the first of many to come as the school continues on its quest to celebrate its students’ successes whether big or small.
The Principal and staff of the Morris Vanterpool Primary School, wish to thank everyone who contributed to making the event a huge success. Season’s Greetings to all!
