Pro Vice Chancellor (PVC) and Principal of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Dr. Luz Longsworth will preside over the UWI Open Campus Anguilla’s 2018 Graduate Recognition Ceremony. The Ceremony in honour of the twenty-one (21) local Graduates, will take place on Tuesday, 27th November 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at the Church of God of – Holiness in Pope Hill. It follows the official Presentation of Graduates Ceremony in St. Lucia last month and provides an opportunity for local Graduates to celebrate their achievements with family and friends.
For the first time in the history of the UWI Open Campus Anguilla, twelve (12) of the Graduates are recipients of Masters degrees. Vonlee Harris, Giovanni Francisca, Shirba Hughes, Ann Margarette Watty, Angelene Benn Henry, Colvette Coley, Kebrina Bailey, Marcia Brooks, Sabrina Darr, Tricia Richardson, Meredith Connor and Gloria Butcher graduated with Masters degrees in Management Studies, Educational Leadership, Literacy Instruction, and Instructional Design and Technology.
The other members of the local Class of 2018 include Vanisha Proctor, Linette Carty, Trevor Queeley, Verrerlyne Bruno Mason, Kemoloy Murphy, Sandra D. Richardson, Rozell Hennis-Richardson, Hamewatie Narine and Alina Richardson-Davis. These nine received undergraduate degrees in Management/Business Studies, Human Resource Management, Educational Leadership and Management and Youth Development Work.
Manager for the UWI British Overseas Territories, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks says that the staff, students and new graduates are delighted that PVC Longsworth will be presiding over the Recognition Ceremony this year. “This is Dr. Longsworth’s first visit to Anguilla since her appointment as Principal of the Open Campus and we are honoured that this inaugural visit is in celebration of our 2018 Graduates. Her visit is particularly significant, as it comes during the year marking the 70th anniversary of the University and ten years since the formal establishment of the UWI’s fourth Campus.”
The general public is invited to witness the Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday, 27th November 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at the Church of God of Holiness.
