The, Department of Youth and Culture, Anguilla National Youth Council and the National Youth Ambassador Corps concluded the 4th Annual National Youth Week on October 6th, 2018 under the theme ‘Vision 2048: Charting the Way Forward for Youth Development’.
The week commenced with a march pass and Church Service at the Bethel Methodist Church. Rev Dr Wycherley Gumbs, the officiating Minister, charged young people of Anguilla to speak up on national issues affecting Youth.
Activities during the week included; general assemblies in each school, Caribbean Youth Day reception at Government House; which was sponsored by International Wines and Spirits (IWAS), the 11th National Conference on Youth and Development, an Open Mic forum discussion, social events and a book of the day highlight broadcasted by Radio Anguilla.
Two of the main highlights of National Youth Week were the 11th National Conference on Youth and Development and the 4th National Youth Awards. The conference was facilitated by Mr. Richard Berwick, CARICOM Regional Youth Specialist.
The 4th National Youth Awards recognised young people between the ages of 13 and 35 and youth based organisations whose work exemplified the Government aspirations for youth development. The winners and sponsors of the various categories were:
