Four committed and deserving persons in Anguilla have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to the island by iChange Nations (ICN) – a global organisation which honours the work of individuals around the world and awards them accordingly.
The organisation is focused on “Bringing Back The Lost Art of Honor”. It was founded by Dr. Clyde Rivers, its President and Honorary Ambassador at Large of the Republic of Burundi.
Those awarded in Anguilla, at a presentation ceremony at the scenic and luxurious Quintessence Hotel at Meads Bay on Tuesday, June 26, were Mr. Kenroy Herbert of Leviticus Lifestyle & Travel Company who received a Regional Statesman Award; Mr. David Gumbs, General Manager of the Anguilla Electricity Company (represented by Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Jemila Morson-Hodge), who also received a Regional Statesman Award; Mr. Kyle Hodge of Tropical Treats (represented by Ms. Melisa Peffer) who was presented with a Community Regional Award; and Mrs. Lily Warning-Moses, Executive Director of the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The awards were presented by three of ICN’s World Civility Ambassadors, Dr. Vernet A. Joseph, Dr. Will Moreland and Dr. Jamal Cummings all of whom reside in the United States. Dr.Cummings was born in St. Martin/St. Maarten where the team presented awards to a number of persons before coming to Anguilla.
Team leader, Dr. Joseph, told The Anguillian: “We have flown over to Anguilla to bestow some prestigious awards from an organisation called ‘iChange Nations. It is a world-wide organisation that ‘Brings Back Lost Art of Honor’. The actual Founder and President of iChange Nations is Dr. Clyde Rivers. He is an Ambassador to the Republic of Burundi. He is also connected to the UN and over 120 nations. He is a dynamic individual. He has given me the autonomy as a Senior Adviser to iChange Nations to continue to go around and honour other people. We call this Bestowing Cultures of Honor.
“I was in Anguilla maybe for a third time and Kenroy Herbert was so gracious to host us when I came to the Caribbean to do business events dealing with entrepreneurs and Chambers of Commerce. We were just in St. Maarten for the swearing in of Prime Minister, Leona Morgan Romeo. We have been here several times and so we are not strangers to the land. My parents are from Haiti and Dr. Jamal Cummings is a son of the soil from St. Maarten. Dr. Will is from Compton, California. Dr. Will and I have travelled from Arizona and Dr. Jamal now lives in Alabama.”
He continued: “We know that the Caribbean has been devastated by Hurricanes Irma and Maria and all the other ones that tried to come to decimate the Caribbean. But I understand that the Caribbean are strong. The people from Anguilla and St.Martin/St. Maarten are strong amongst all the Caribbean islands. Our desire is to bestow where honour is due – to offer multiple types of collaborations, partnerships and assistance.
“The Ambassador has multiple programmes that help nations. I am talking about Presidents, Prime Ministers, Heads of States and others around the world. Our desire is to build strong relationships and we do that for one island, one state and one person at a time.”
