With a spectacular display of pomp and ceremony, the Vivien Vanterpool Primary School staged it 2018 graduation ceremony at the Art Café, Island Harbour, on the afternoon of Tuesday June 26th.
The event began with a prayer offered by Mrs. Eulet Harrigan followed by the national song sung by student Jedaya Rogers. Tr. Itasha Webster then gave welcome remarks and the school choir rendered the School Song.
A motivating feature address was presented by Jordia Hodge. With the theme Rising up to the Challenge Defeat Any Giant, she claimed: “Rising up to challenges brings opportunity for growth. Rising up to challenges builds character. Rising up to challenges brings great satisfaction when the challenges are finally overcome. And rising up to challenge separates the champions from the cowards.” Her inspiring address was then fittingly followed by the school choir’s rendition of the song, Rise.
The Valedictorian of the Class of 2018 was Ms. Kurlianna Webster. Accepting the fact that they are no longer juniors, she touted: “We have been treated like children for a long time; however, it’s time to drop the lunch kits and move forward with our school bags. Now we are bigger and so we are moving on.”
A total of twelve students graduated, and they will be entering the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School in September. They include Orlanno Adams, Tyrelle Fleming, Deron Smith, Jaequawn Reymond-Lloyd, Dekerion Smith, Landy Vanterpool, Allicyn Bryan, Correll Buffonge, Keisi Carmona, Leticia Levenstone, Spandissa Pogson and Kurlianna Webster.
The vote of thanks was given by Salutatorian Dekerion Smith.
