Following on the heels of the Welches Village Fest, held on the Whit Monday holiday in Anguilla, is the West Fest, an annual event at Meads Bay, in the island’s tourism belt, being put on by the West End community.
The weekend entertainment-filled function, on Saturday, June 9, is sponsored by a number of hotels in the area, among other sponsors, and is usually attended by a large and colourful crowd from across Anguilla as well as tourists on the island at the time.

A boat-racing competition is one of the prime activities as well as performances by a number of musical bands.

This year there will be a jam session, to the event, organised by the West Fest Committee in collaboration with Crucial Movements and Creative Entertainment.

One of the aims of the West Fest is the promotion of the August Thursday Boat Race, at Meads Bay, a popular event many years ago. That event was stalled by the building of hotel resorts in the area, taking much of the land space for gatherings of persons and parking of vehicles.

The situation has been fortunately addressed by the efforts of the West Fest Committee taking advantage of the provision of an area of land, just south of Carimar Beach Club, made available by the Connor’s family of West End.
