Anguilla is among seven regional islands being reminded about the two devastating category 5 hurricanes which wreaked havoc on them in September 2017, and the need to be prepared for the coming “of the above average hurricane season.”

The reminder is being provided by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) which is concerned about the tourist industries in the islands which suffered much damage from Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

The CTO has reached out to the islands by organising a series of briefings via Zoom Video Communications on Wednesday, May 30. It will be an opportunity for senior tourism officials in the affected member countries to report on their territories’ recovery progress and the preparations being made as the next hurricane season approaches.

The current schedule for the updates, in Atlantic Standard Time, is as follows:

10:00 a.m. – Anguilla; 10:00 a.m. – Antigua/Barbuda; 11:00 a.m. – British Virgin islands; 11:30 a.m. – Dominica; 12:00 p.m. – St. Martin; 12:30 p.m. – St. Maarten; 1:30 p.m. – Puerto Rico.

Zoom Video Communications is a company operating from San Jose, California. It provides conferencing services using cloud computing. The company was founded in 2011 and as of 2017 has 700 employees.
