ASTAPHAN APPOINTED TO ACT AS HIGH COURT JUDGE

Mr. Thomas W. R. Astaphan

Senior Attorney-at-Law in Anguilla, Mr. Thomas W. R. Astaphan, is one of two Kittitian lawyers appointed to act as Judges of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

Mr.Astaphan normally resides in Anguilla, where his Chamber offices are located, and he is the Chairman of the Anguilla Social Security Board. His acting appointment as High Court Judge is for the period July 15 to September 10 and he has been assigned toAntigua and Barbuda.

 

The other appointed Acting Judge is Master PearlettaLanns of Nevis, whose appointment is from September 10 to December 31. She is also assigned toAntigua and Barbuda.

 

The appointments were made by the St. Lucia-based Judicial and Legal Services Commission headed by its Chairman, Sir Hugh Rawlins, out-going Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

 

Meanwhile, other judicial appointments have been announced as follows:

High Court Judges Justice Louise Blenman and Justice Mario Michel have been appointed Justices of Appeal with effect from September 10.

 

Attorney-at-Law Gerhard H.A. Wallblank has been appointed High Court Judge for the period July 9-27 and August 6-31, assigned to the British Virgin Islands.

 

Justice Vicki Ann Ellis has been assigned as High Court Judge with effect from September 10.

 

Master Vivian Georgis Taylor-Alexander has been appointed to act as High Court Judge for the period July 20 to September 30 and assigned to Grenada.

 

Mrs. Cynthia Combie-Martyr has been appointed to act as High Court Judge from July 22 to September 10, assigned to Anguilla; and Master Cheryl Mathurin has been appointed to act as High Court Judge for the period September 10 to December 31.
