The re-development of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School has moved a step further with the approval of a new location by the Executive Council.
That proposed location is The Quarter (in the northern area of the Omolulu International School) on 17.75 acres. The Minutes of the Executive Council meeting on Thursday, April 5, described the location as the preferred option of four options presented to EXCO.
It has been agreed that the consultants for the master plan, for the new school complex, should now move forward with that site and to further develop the financial estimates for the project.
It was also agreed by Executive Council that the Government of Anguilla should seek to acquire the adjoining 14 acres of land subject to funding if necessary.
According to the Minutes of the Executive Council, three senior Public Servants were at the meeting for the presentation of the Comprehensive School’s redevelopment plan. They were Mrs. Chanelle Petty-Barrett, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs/Education; Mrs. Dawn Reid, Education Services Planner; and Mr. Nigel Connor, Deputy Chief Engineer in the Department of Infrastructure, Communication and Housing.
The main presenter was Mrs. Petty Barrett, and EXCO thanked the officials for a good presentation.

Campus A of the Comprehensive School, comprising several buildings, was badly damaged by Hurricane Irma which struck Anguilla on September 6, 2017. Seven or eight of the buildings have had to be demolished, leaving the land area considerably bare. A shift system has had to be put in place to cater for the accommodation of the student body.

It is understood that other campuses of the school will eventually be provided for at the new site.
The Comprehensive School is the first Anguilla Government premises announced for redevelopment.
