The Anguilla Toastmasters Club has celebrated the inception of its local club on April 15th for the past five years. This year, to commemorate our prestigious milestone, we participated in various planned activities.
On Thursday, April 12th, TM Joycelyn Greenaway CC/ALB (Treasurer), and TM Susan Hodge ACS/ALB, led an engaging radio interview hosted by DJ Hammer of Klass FM 92.9. They spoke of the overall benefits of Toastmasters while highlighting how the club’s mutually supportive learning environment has helped them grow personally. The following day, a team of Toastmasters appealed to members of Church of God of Holiness by presenting an ‘Educational Demo Meeting’. We reenacted a typical educational session that included the presentation of prepared and impromptu speeches followed by a learned evaluation team that provided feedback on the positives and areas to be improved.
On Saturday, April 14th, we conducted our ‘Happy Birthday’ themed educational meeting. We congratulated TM Carlisle Lake, our newest member, on presenting a phenomenal icebreaker speech!
Finally, we joined the congregation of St.Mary’s Anglican Church on Sunday morning to fellowship and thank God for the many blessings He has seen us through both personally and holistically. Later that evening we reconvened at 20 Knots, Zemi Beach, to share in the comradery of the Anguilla Toastmasters group members.
As a young charter group of Toastmasters International, this is a momentous occasion for Anguilla Toastmasters Club. This term our club was led by President Dilece Connor, ACS/ALB. She is proud to boast of our highest accomplishment, President’s Distinguished, that is recognized by Toastmasters International for completing 9/10 club goals. We have maintained being a President’s Distinguished club for the entirety of our local club.
Some highlights of the year were welcoming new members including TM Carlisle Lake, TM Cassilda Thomas-Carty, and TM Melissa Harrigan who is currently serving as the Vice President Membership Officer. We also celebrated members who met their goals successfully, completing their respective manuals including TM Crefton Gumbs CC/ALB, Secretary – TM Robertha Campbell CC, TM Eulah Barlette CC and Vice President Public Relations Officer – TM Verlyndah Rogers CC.
