Carlson Connor, President of the Anguilla Progressive Association of New York, Inc, Rey Allen, Vice President and its Board of Trustees, are proud to announce that Victor Gibbs, M.D of Saint Martin, is named the honoree slated to receive its Distinguished Service Award, on the occasion of its 22nd Annual Dinner Dance Awards Gala at Antun’s in Queens Village to celebrate Anguilla Day in New York on June 2, 2018. All proceeds are charitable contributions to support the mission of APANY.
The Anguilla Progressive Association of New York , Inc. (APANY) is a 501 c(3) non profit organization incorporated in New York State since 1996. Its mission is to provide assistance for the educational, economic and socio-cultural needs of Anguillians at home and abroad.
Dr. Victor Gibbs, first saw the light on Saint Martin, son of a teacher from Anguilla and his father a Saint Martiner who was the Postmaster, in Marigot, Saint Martin. He attended the University of Montepellier in France, where he earned a B.A, B.Sc. and M.D degree.
Besides being a private medical practitioner in Galisbay, Saint Martin, his outstanding exemplary record of voluntary community advocacy and activism in Saint Martin, Guadeloupe and Anguilla, centers on and around former and current numerous professional pro-active leadership roles that benefit the communities at large on those islands. During the height of the Anguilla Revolution in the mid-nineteen sixties (1960’s), Dr. Gibbs volunteered several times a week to provide medical care for the residents of Anguilla.
Dr. Gibbs is married to the lovely Marie-Claude Gibbs and has two children. Daniel who won the territorial elections in Saint Martin on March 26, 2017, is the 6th President of the Collectivite’ de Saint Martin. Alexandra is a social worker and expert at the courthouse in Marigot, Saint Martin.
