They were celebrated on the Second Staff Appreciation Day held on Friday, June 23, at the well-manicured Croquet Court just outside the main building. The event began earlier in the day in a party-like atmosphere. It climaxed with an award ceremony, in the afternoon, hosted by Mr. Peron Sepersaud, Resort Manager (on behalf of Mr. Stephane Zaharia, Vice President/General Manager), and Ms. Carleen Gumbs, Director of Human Resources.

Addressing the gathering of award-winners and nominees, Mr. Sepersaud said in part: “Welcome to this celebration for employees who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in serving our guests. You are not only support team members, but part of the experience that our guests enjoy on this property. We are grateful for the great job you are doing. From my short time at the resort, so far, I must say that I am impressed by the level of dedication I see at the resort. Please continue with that dedication and always strive for ways to improve your service.”

The first awardees were as follows:
• February: Jose Garcia Rodriques, Food & Beverage, Tokyo Bay Restaurant, and Ira Smith, Hydroponics – both at the Resort.

• March: Tomika Richardson, Venus Spa; and Bernado Hodge, Landscaping at the Resort; and Juan Carlos Rogers, Turf Maintenance, Golf Course.

• April: Joyce Gumbs, Food & Beverage (F&B), at Café Mediterraneo Restaurant, at the Resort; Maria Hodge F&B, Italia Restaurant, at the Golf Course; and Shanira Gumbs, F&B at the Yacht Club, Reef by CuisinArt; Jhoan Martinez, Human Resource, Payroll at the Resort.

They were all awarded a framed certificate, a gift from the boutique, and dinner for two at any of the resort’s five restaurants. The nominees received a framed certificate and a gift from the boutique.
The other awardees were as follows:
• Front of the House Team Leader: Yvonne Rogers, Housekeeping. Winner of a plaque and dinner for two.
