Rechelle Meade of Anguilla, who is on a full Track and Field Scholarship at the University of Idaho, has completed her first indoor collegiate season. She has had a stellar start to her collegiate career, competing in the 60 m, high jump and long jump. Rechelle ended her first indoor season with personal best in all three events: 7.79 seconds in the 60 m dash, 1.75m in the high jump and 6.01 m in the long jump.

Rechelle made it to the Big Sky Conference Championships in her first season and collected two bronze medals for her efforts: in the high jump of 1.70 m and the personal best long jump performance of 6.01 m, contributing 12 points to her University earning her ALL- Big Sky accolades as well.
Her hard work and dedication to track and field over the years have continued to reap benefits for her earning her two Athlete of the Week Awards just prior to the Indoor Conference Championships for the consecutive weeks of February 6th and February 12th. As the outdoor season approaches, she looks forward to continued progress and success.

An excerpt from the University of Idaho press release prior to the Big Sky Conference Championships stated:
“Freshman sensation Rechelle Meade will be making her championship debut this weekend, competing in three events. Meade has made a tremendous impact on the program already, and is ranked in the top-10 in all three events that she will compete in (60-meters, long jump, high jump). The transition to college athletics has been no easy task for Meade, a native of the small island country of Anguilla, but she took it all in stride and is making the most of the opportunity”.

Congratulations to Rechelle on her achievements thus far and all the best in her outdoor campaign for 2017.
