Raising of New Flag

Mr. Timothy Hodge

An impressive parade by smartly uniform-attired members of the Cadets Corps was a special precursor to the unveiling of the new Corporate Flag and Logo for the Anguilla Social Security Board on Tuesday, November 1.

Director of Social Security, Mr. Timothy Hodge, said that both the former flag and logo were now being retired with the new designs replacing them.
He traced the three logos over the years beginning with the initial one done by the first Director of Social Security, Mr. Colville Petty, in the formative years of the system. He then referred to the second logo, submitted during a competition, fashioned along the lines of the Anguilla Shield and the three dolphins emblazoned on the Official Flag of Anguilla.
The third and new logo, now adopted for use, is basically a replica of the second logo except that, among other features, there is a ripple effect, in the sea area of the design, representing the many vagaries of life affecting Anguilla and its people. This new logo, which also appears on the new Social Security Board’s flag, was designed by Mr. Rudy Webster.
The old flag was lowered and the new one raised by a member of the Cadets Corps.
In addition to the Cadets Corps, the Albena Lake-Hodge Steel Orchestra performed at the ceremony.
