The successor EU Horizon 2020 platform to be announced within the year is expected to increase the overall amount of funding available as well as the degree of collaboration and cooperation with regions such as the Caribbean and Latin America.

Anguillapresented itself as an ideal partner for many European research companies and institutions due to its advantages for innovation, incubation, piloting, testing, and “petri-dish” development. “Our island’s  size, reputation, legislative nascence and openness, global structuring advantages  and ideal ‘residence” for Intellectual Property. This suggests that Anguilla should be a partner in virtually every European initiated development in the six current technology revolutions … info, bio, nano, robo, socio-cogno and energy” says Lynwood Bell of Anguilla-Counts, Inc., a not-for-profit-organization dedicated to nation building.

As a result of the three dayGuatemalaconference, the regional members intend to collaborate on more ways to be effective partners and to support  the EU’s future research  and for project results  that will be useful on a global basis.

“Larger countries in the regions such asChileandMexicohave demonstrated success in collaborations with FP/7 research but I see improving progress among the smaller countries too.”  “In many cases, the smaller, less developed country is an even more appropriate, pilot, incubator collaborator… than the large.” says Fabio Nascimbeni, Director of MENON Network.
