On behalf of the Executive of the Anguilla National Council of Women and its affiliates, I extend deepest condolence to the immediate and extended family of our late sister affectionately known as Mildred or Milly.
As we the women and the wider community mourn the death of another one of our national heroines of the 1967 Anguilla Revolution, let us continue to be courageous, bold and God fearing in defending the Anguillian people in accordance with our Fundamental Human Rights as laid down in our Constitution.
We ought to be proud at home and abroad when reference is made to the Anguilla Court Case regarding “Talk Your Mind”. Let us continue to talk your mind in a responsible manner by giving and seeking advice when necessary.
It was a joy for our church groups to visit and have her inviting some of us to sit on her bed while having devotion. After that she would ask for the Anguillian newspaper as she had to see or listen to what Mr Colville Petty wrote for the week. Her advice to everybody is that we must respect our men and all those who come to live among us. Speak out against any kind of abuse and do not allow anybody to keep us down. Our cultural sister will be remembered by the work she has done and her outspoken nature. Thanks to all her caretakers and the fun-filled time we shared.
May her soul rest in peace.
