Anguilla Delegation

Following three (3) months of training, the Anguilla Amateur Netball Association (AANA) eventually selected a squad of 11 players to represent Anguilla at the Under 13’s Regional Netball Festival hosted yearly in the Commonwealth of Dominica from August 14th – 18th 2016.
A delegation of seventeen (17) persons comprised of 11 players, 3 officials, and 3 spectators left Anguilla on August 13th and returned 19th & 20th respectively.
Anguilla came up against Dominica A-team in its opening game on Sunday 14th August, Subsequently the scores were as follows:-
Game 1- Dom- A vs. Axa Dom-A won 27 goals – 1
Game 2- St Lucia vs. Axa- St Lucia won 28 goals – 8
Game 3 – Dom-B team vs. Axa Dom B won 45 goals – 2
At the final games, Anguilla and St Lucia vied for 3rd position; competition was tight as we witnessed a more resilient game. However, through a number of turnovers by the AXA team, St Lucia emerged in the 3rd position, winning 29 – 6 goals.
The overall winner was the Dom A- team. Anguilla received the Best Disciplined Team and
Jennifer Connor was awarded Best Defense trophy.
Our participation in this tournament would not have been possible without the support of the following persons:
The Department of Sports for their financial contribution and guidance, Anguilla Social Security Board for their ongoing financial support, Anguilla Development Board for their financial contribution, Mr. Cardigan Connor for his patience & relentless support in resolving our financial hiccups, the Ministry of Education for providing transportation, all the coaches for their commitment in training the players for the tournament, as well as the parents of the players for entrusting their children into the care of the AANA. We also want to express our appreciation to the Anguillan public for supporting our ventures and to individual persons who contributed financially and voluntarily. We thank you for your support and we also look forward for your continued patronage as we begin preparation for next year’s tournaments: Under 13, Under 16 and the Under 23 OECS Tournament.
* The Anguilla Amateur Netball Association also takes this opportunity to apologize for the delay of the cake raffle; however, stay tuned to the radio stations as a new date will be announced in the upcoming months.
