Anguilla National Tennis Association (ANTA) Leverages ITF Recognition to Put the Spotlight on the Development of Tennis in Anguilla

The board of the Anguilla National Tennis Association (ANTA) led by the President Marvin Hazell, is all fired up to push the development of the game of tennis in Anguilla.
The ANTA held a General Meeting on August 10th to update its members and the public on their accomplishments to date as well as relay exciting information regarding upcoming events.
The ANTA is the governing body for all tennis in Anguilla and is responsible for maintaining memberships with regional and International tennis organizations such as COTEC (Regional) and the International Tennis Federation (ITF), a worldwide governing body.The ANTA connection, allows Anguilla recognition by the ITF and access to a wealth of opportunities in tennis with other countries around the world, in the areas of training, technical assistance, tennis resources, tournament participation and the sharing of best practices .
Along with this very important membership,the ANTA board is responsible for sanctioning local ranking & ITF events and progressing the sport throughout the entire island especially at the Junior level. This includes plans for a Grass Roots programs in the schools and communities. The ANTA is also responsible for establishing the National Ranking system for Junior and Senior players. The National Ranking system ranks players based on their performance at locally sanctioned tournaments at various locations on the island. This is an important status for players who wish to travel to tournaments outside of Anguilla. The Junior Ranking system is currently in place, with the Seniors to follow eventually. Only members of the ANTA will receive official National Ranking. Yearly membership in the ANTA is available to Adults ($35us) Juniors 18 & Under ($25us) Family ($100us) Corporate ($500us). For those who need financial assistance to join, a simple note to the board is required.
The ANTA announced two major upcoming tournaments. On September 9th& 10th there will be an Adult social tennis mixer on the Friday at 4pm and a Junior Ranking tournament on the Saturday starting at 8am located at the courts by Malliouhana & Carimar.

In November, Anguilla has an extraordinary opportunity to be centre stage, hosting players from the region and internationally as they vie against our local players at the ITF Junior and Senior Championship Tournament located at the ATA facility in Blowing Point. This remarkable event will provide many learning opportunities for Anguilla players and create valuable tennis connections across the seas.
The meeting concluded with a question and answer session where ideas and suggestions were exchanged which reflected the engaging attitude of those who were present. Many exciting initiatives were discussed to elevate the sport of tennis in Anguilla. The supporters and members of the ANTA pledged to assist with future events and programs, praising the board for their hard work.
