GRADE 6 TRANSITION RETREAT

On Friday 18th May, students from the the various primary schools on the island met at the Oriela Kelly Primary school for a grade 6 transition retreat.

The 3rd Annual Retreat was organized by the primary school guidance counsellors, Tr. Vivien Fleming, Tr. Carol Fleming and Tr. Shanecia Fedrick who assembled all the grade 6 students on the island that are due to attend A.L.H.C.S campus B in September.

The retreat serves as an orientation for the students to meet each other as well as their future head-of-year and also to be involved in motivational workshops where the aim is to ease their fear of transitioning.

Grade six students

Present at the event were motivational speaker Mr. Curtis Richardson who addressed the students on life in secondary school, Mr. Luis Price who spoke of balancing health and nutrition with education, and Mrs. Maryln Hodge who made a presentation with regards to the essentials of studying. Other presenters were Ms. Amber Woodley, Ms. Kirsty Webster, Mr. Vanburn Brooks and Mr. Samuel Daniel who gave presentations on anger management and peer pressure.
