The Constitutional and Electoral Reform Committee has produced its draft discussion document and on Tuesday 12 July 2016 circulated it widely to the public. A copy can be viewed online or downloaded from the government website at http://gov.ai/ and printed at your convenience.
The Committee is planning a programme of consultation with members of the public in the months to come. It is hoped that a wide cross-section of the Anguillian community, at home and overseas, will read the draft and either attend meetings to make their contribution, or send comments, suggestions, and criticisms to any member of the Committee. The Chairman of the Committee is Don Mitchell and his email address, to which you can send your contribution, is idmitch@anguillanet.com.
Once the consultation period is complete, which will be before the end of October 2016, the Committee will finalise its report, and send it to the Government to commence negotiations with the British Government for a new Constitution for Anguilla.
