Anguilla participated in the recently concluded Regional Prices Statistics Workshop sponsored by the Caribbean Regional Assistance Centre (CARTAC), from February 29th – March 4th in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The workshop’s focus was to support CARTAC member states in developing and updating their prices statistics improvement plans, providing training on the production of the Consumer Price Index, Producer Price Index and Export & Import Price Indices as well as developing and/or planning and scheduling of the necessary related surveys that feed into these indices.
The Anguilla Statistics Department (ASD) currently produces and releases data on the Anguilla Consumer Price Index (AXACPI) and recently produced Anguilla’s first Export & Import Price Indices (XMPI).
The ASD stresses the importance of these statistics in economic planning, as the success of the development and/or production of these indicators for Anguilla continues to be dependent on the return of data by the business community/sector and the internal collaboration of Government departments. The ASD would like to thank all the businesses in Anguilla that contributed to these statistical indexes and request their continued assistance in the future.
The Anguilla Statistics Department (ASD) participation at the workshop was an opportunity for the continued development and improvement of its statistical capacity in the area of economic sector statistics, given the ASD 2016 current work and future work focus. The workshop was attended by 20 CARTAC member countries through the kind assistance of CARTAC. Anguilla was represented by Senior Statistical Officer, Mr Careme Carty of Anguilla Statistics Department of the Government of Anguilla.
