Fairplay Group of Companies, Anguilla, whose Managing Director and CEO is Mr. Quincy Gumbs, climaxed its 30th Anniversary celebrations with an awards ceremony and dinner on Friday, February 26.

The well-attended and dignified event was held at the Royale Caribbean Resort, a headpiece project of the Fairplay Group of Companies.

The welcome remarks were delivered by Ms Quincia Gumbs, who chaired the proceedings. Ms. Gumbs, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Quincy Gumbs, said: “Ladies and gentlemen thank you for dreaming with us”, as she welcomed the packed room of invitees to the formal double event.

The Honourable Minister of Social Development, McNiel Rogers, congratulated Mr. and Mrs. Gumbs on the company’s 30th Anniversary. He praised Mr. Gumbs for using his entrepreneurial skills to realize his dreams. “What Mr. Gumbs has achieved over the last 30 years is nothing short of spectacular,” he declared.

A historical review of the company was presented by another daughter of the Gumbs’ couple, Mrs. Royette Church, who traced the development of the family’s various businesses over the years. She highlighted that in 2002 the family began the development of the Royale Caribbean Resort and to date have invested over $60 million US of family resources.
During the dinner, Mr. Quincy Gumbs Jr. delivered an overview of the present and future developments of the business. Among other things he said: “The first of our new endeavours is agriculture-based via a company we have recently registered called Angkor. Anyone who enjoyed the goat meat tonight is already digesting our pilot project. We have successfully raised goats that are a mixture of our local and regional animals with some of the top breeds of goats around the world”. He also mentioned that the company will be aiming at increasing its market share in the various markets it currently services; introducing a new ferry shuttle; completing Royale Caribbean Resort in Anguilla; and expanding the brand regionally.
