Wet Saturday, lovely football
Saturday 20th February was rainy and somewhat chilly, but it was a beautiful day for football, as Kicks United trounced Uprising F.C, 7:2. The men from Kicks United seemed at home on the water logged field, as they were able to move the ball around and create problems for their adversary. However, Uprising did not cower in the face of the conditions but provided stout resistance to Kicks United.
Oliver “Screechy” Walker (#11) opened the Kicks scoring with a goal in the fifteenth minute. However, Uprising did not waste time on the counter as Romario Hodge equaled the score with a goal. Five minutes later Lindon Duncan (#22) scored at the 20th minute, putting Kicks ahead with a score of 2:1. With Kicks attacking in Waves, the young Uprising began to buckle despite the beckoning of Coach Cleo Hamm. But Kicks were merciless as Junior Anthony (#12) aka ‘junior’ added fuel to the fire as he scored Kicks United continued applying pressure, as speedy Javaugn Duncan (#7) scored a hatrick, locking in the fate of young Uprising. Not to be out done, the stylish Glenville Allen, aka “Malley” scored Kick’s final goal.
Despite the insurmountable odds, Uprising, never gave up. Midfield guru Kordel Smith, distributed passes like hot bread and one such pass connected with Eldon Richardson. The fleet footed youngster, sent a rocket of a shot passed an outstretched keeper, increasing Uprising’s score. But this effort was too little to even the odds.

Roaring Lions F.C tangled with Masters F.C (Sunday 21st February)
The Roaring Lions F.C tangled with the master F.C in a riveting game, which ended in a 3:1 victory for the former team. With Gordon “Shamshaker” Connor and Kappel Batique in the midfield, Lions distributed the ball to all corners of the field. However the progress was often thwarted by a tight Masters defense. The Roaring Lions eventually breached the Masters defense as touched the back of the “old onion bag” courtesy of a shot by “Ras”. Calvin “Yardie” McKenzie got in on the goal scoring action as he belted home to second goal for the Lions
The wise veterans were not fazed but countered with a brilliant build up led by midfielder “Kasa” and Keron Kentish. A crisp pass to the right wing resulted in a beautiful cross to the middle of the goal and an unmarked Cody Coburn connected a header with the floating ball to convert it to a goal. Suddenly the masters sprang to life as they went on the offensive. Young Joel Williams of the Lions sapped some of intensity of the as he rocketed home a volley shot from the outside the 18yard box.
The Masters did not relent in their offensive and once again placed the Roaring Lions under immense pressure. A quick counter by the Lions resulted in Kapell Batique connect to a lovely cross with a header that passed the open arms of Masters Goalie, Lucien ‘Tony “Fleming. The goal brought to an end a wonderful game where soft touch and spacing were at the hall marks of game.
On Saturday 27th Masters will play Uprising and on Sunday 28th Roaring Lions will play Kicks United. All games will begin at 3:30pm at the Ronald Webster park annex.
