The physical exercise initiative is driven by staff and spans over a 10-week period. In an effort to ensure the initiative is successful, the staff was divided into three teams each of which includes one male among others. Ms Riley commented: “We decided to strive to be the best in terms of health, fitness and lifestyle. On Tuesdays we do a staff walk – route determined by a staff member – and on Thursday we use a volunteer fitness instructor to show us the variety of fitness that is out there”.
In addition to exercising twice a week, the staff partakes in a ‘Pot-Lock’ lunch where each staff member cooks a healthy dish and shares it among colleagues. The activity is also used as a team building exercise for the company as well as the community. Ms. Riley said: “When we are doing the walk…our Country Manager, Desron Bynoe, encourages and tries to push us to our limits. Some staff can’t participate for a variety of reasons, but they still support us in other ways. Anybody can join us. We’ve invited our families and friends. It’s open to all because it’s a community, and we’re aiming to transform the community.”

Marketing Manager Jade Raymond expressed thanks to all those who have aided the company in this exercise. She remarked: “We also want to thank all the fitness instructors who volunteer their time and energy. We are doing it as a team and not necessarily as LIME the company, but more as LIME the social club in a team-building effort. We definitely want to extend a hearty thank you to all the fitness instructors who volunteered their time, and invite those who want to take part in the initiative”. Volunteer fitness instructors so far were: Styler of Styler’s Fitness Center; Cleopatra of IFitness AXA and Marissa Hughes of Dungeon Gym.

The teams do a weigh in every two weeks, courtesy of Joseph Pradel of La Severine. Fitness instructor Marissa Huges also encouraged the team and everyone else to lead a healthier lifestyle: “We [Dungeon Gym] believe in supporting healthy lifestyles. The gym is not the only place to exercise, so we encourage people to find time to exercise and eat healthier. Often people complain about how costly eating healthy is, however it is more costly to be sick”.
