On Saturday 12th December, 2015 the Lions Community held its 3rd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the “The Trough” in The Valley, under the theme, ‘Cherishing the simple joys and little pleasures of Christmas’.
The event began with a compass drum parade which came from different directions of The Valley. The processions then communed at the area where the stage and the manger are located.
The brief ceremony, leading up to the much anticipated switching-on of the lights, included remarks by HE Governor, Christina Scott; Director of Youth and Culture, Bren Romney; Lions Community member, Avenella Griffith; and Commissioner of Police, Paul Morrison, who called for a safe and enjoyable Christmas season.
The Lions Community presented awards to Mr. Vaughn Gumbs and Mr Lanford Richardson for their outstanding work over the years.
There will be a number of activities held at The Trough throughout the Christmas season and into the new year.
And the distinguished patriot award went to Mr. Derick M. Richardson.
