The Department of Health Protection in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Culture and Platinum Sponsor Anguilla Social Security Board will be hosting the 3rd Annual Department of Health Protection Inter-House Debating Competition amongst the various houses of Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS).
The 3rd Annual Department of Health Protection Inter-House Debating Competition debates will be held at the Soroptimist Day Care Centre Conference Room on the 16th 17th and 18th November 2015 commencing at 6.30pm nightly. The ALHCS Debating Society and Literary Club will facilitate the organization of the four (4) debates over the three nights amongst the various houses, namely Maroon House (2014 Champions), Pink House (2013 Champions), Orange House, Purple House and Yellow House. The students of the various houses will be responsible for conducting research, formulating arguments to support their positions, for or against the proposed topics to be debated.
The debates schedule and topics are as follows:
Monday 16th November. YELLOW HOUSE VS PINK HOUSE
Topic: Social networking and social networking sites are responsible for deviant behaviour amongst young people.
Tuesday 17th November. PURPLE HOUSE VS ORANGE HOUSE
Topic: Present attitudes to integrated vector management in Anguilla are reflective of an underdeveloped society.
Tuesday 17th November. MAROON HOUSE VS WINNER OF DATE 1
Topic: Peer Pressure is the main reason so many youngsters end up as deviants
Wednesday 18th November WINNER OF DEBATE 2 VS WINNER OF DEBATE 3
Topic: Occupational health and safety legislation is an effective way to protect workers’ health, safety and wellbeing in the work place.
The Departments of Health Protection, Youth and Culture and the Anguilla Social Security Board hopes that the 2015 debates makes the general public more aware of public health, environmental health and social issues which can impact their health and wellbeing of the community.
All are invited to come out and support the ALHCS students from Maroon House, Pink House, Orange House, Purple House and Yellow House, as we strive to improve health awareness, counter anti-social behaviour, and raise the self-esteem and confidence of our youth, through public speaking.
