The Environmental Health Unit of the Department of Health Protection, in collaboration with its platinum sponsor, Caribbean Commercial Bank, held its annual Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School Campus A, Inter-House Spelling B Competition at the Rodney McArthur Auditorium. The event was on Tuesday, October 27.
Five Houses namely Maroon, Purple, Orange, Yellow and Pink participate in the competition. Three representatives from each of the five houses of Form 3 students competed by spelling words relating to vectors, vector borne diseases and general environmental health or public health work in mitigating health risks.
After five rounds of competition, Orange House represented by Ivory Crump, Ariel Palmer and Naqueesha Brodie were adjudged the winning house with 19 points. In second place was Yellow House represented by Celine George, McKayla Webster and Klein Harrigan with 18 points. In third place was Pink House represented by Sameisha Connor, Jodi Vanterpool and Tiandra Carty with 17 points. The coveted Best Speller title was awarded to Ivory Crump of Orange House who correctly spelt all her words even after a tie breaker for the best speller award.
