Rotarians and Interactors

The Rotary Club of Anguilla sponsored a beach social event on Sunday, October 4th at Sur La Plage Villa, Meads Bay to officially launch the Interact Club of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School’s 2015 – 2016 Year. The Interact Club is a club for young people ages 12 – 18 who want to join with their peers to tackle issues in their community. Interact members carry out hands-on service projects, make international connections, develop leadership skills and have fun doing this. The Interact Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Anguilla which exercises supervision and control over all of the Interact Club’s activities under the leadership of Rotarian Shernika Connor, Director of Youth Services.

Rotarian Shernika Connor said, “The Interact Club beach social was a great success. We are pleased with the level of involvement by our young people, especially at the beginning of Youth Week in Anguilla. The beach social was an opportunity to bring the members of the Rotary Club of Anguilla together with the members of the Interact Club to launch a year of youth service for the benefit of our community.”

Rotarian President Genefa Fedee said, “The Rotary Club of Anguilla is keen on working with and coaching the Interact Club as we recognize that they are tomorrow’s leaders. If we can nurture the spirit of community service and fellowship amongst them, then it makes for a brighter tomorrow.”

Interact Club President Artiya Bruno said, ”The Interact Club of Anguilla is a syndicate of teens looking to lend a helping hand in any way we can, all the while having fun. We have carried out various community service projects in and out of the school. Our Club assisted in the beautification of the school grounds by planting trees and painting, participated in island wide cleanups, toy drives and so much more. We implore students from 1st to 6th Form to join us in our efforts in making our community a better one with the aid of the Rotary Club of Anguilla.”
If any young person ages 12 – 18 are interested in joining the Interact Club, please contact Artiya Bruno or any other member of the Interact Club.

The Rotary Club of Anguilla expresses gratitude to Rotarian Madeline Kelly-Pierz for hosting this event at Sur La Plage Beach Front Villas, Meads Bay.
