Anguilla wins two bronze medals at the CARIFTA Games

Zharnell Hughes and DeeAnn Rogers both won bronze medals at the Carifta Games and established new national records over the Easter Weekend.

The 2012 edition of the Carifta games was held inBermudaon Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Anguillawas represented at the games with a team of three athletes and two officials. The athletes were Zharnel Hughes  (Under 20, 100m and 200m), Dee-Ann Rogers Anguilla’s first ever entry in the Open penthatalon at Carifta level (100m hurdles, Shot put, long jump, high jump and 800m) and, Rechelle Meade (pentathlon).  They were accompanied by Mrs. Heather Richardson and Mr Winston Duncan.

 

Zharnell ran a time of 10.41 in the 100m and 21.26 in the 200m.  DeaAnn received a total point score of 2829 and Rechelle Meade placed sixth overall in the Pentathlon.
