Thomas Petty, a farmer at Little Dix, reported on Monday this week that stray dogs had killed his eleven goats (adults and kids) in their pen the night before.
Up to Monday morning, when he was called to scene of destruction, some of the dogs were still in the area sniffing around. He was not aware who the owners of the dogs were.
Mr. Petty reported the matter to the Police in the hope that they would be able to warn members of the public to keep their dogs under control. In recent times there were also reports of mass destruction of livestock in other areas of the island.
Meanwhile, with his animals gone, Thomas Petty is occupying himself with other farming activities including harvesting cassava, in his backyard, with yields of up to 14 pounds and more per tuber.
