The Female Football tournament kicked off last weekend at the Raymond E. Guishard Technical Centre with the opening Ceremony and Soccerama. Five clubs were represented. They were Super Stars, Shining Stars, Gazelles, Lil Soldiers and De Youngsters. In the first game of the soccerama, Gazelles went under to Lil Soldiers by a Score of one goal to nil. Staniesha Crawford scored the lone goal for Lil Soldiers. In the second encounter, Super Stars defeated De Youngsters by one goal to nil. Melissa Carty was the goal scorer for Super Stars. In the semi- finals Shining Stars edged past Lil Soldiers by a score of one goal to nil. It was Jaynelle Lake who supplied the winner in this encounter. In the finals it was deadlocked at zero at the end of regulation time, but it was Shining Stars who emerged victorious over Super Stars after penalty shoot out. Scoring for Super Stars were Coleen, Coco Johnson and Monique Carty, while Roxane Bradshaw, Karisa Lake and Jahkeeda Bryan scored for the champions Shining Stars. The league kicks off on Wednesday at 5:00 pm when Lil Soldiers and Gazelles will square off. On Saturday at 4:00pm Shining Stars and Super Stars will show down in the battle of the stars. Then on Sunday in the first match of double header at 4:00 pm. Gazelles and De Youngsters will battle each other. Then in the night cap 6:00 pm Lil Soldiers and Shining Stars will fight for honors’. It’s football! Football! Football! At the Raymond E. Guishard Technical Centre.
