Among the success stories emerging from North American universities this Spring was the awarding of a Masters of Music degree in Music Education to prominent local musician, Lennox Vanterpool. Mr.Vanterpool pursued the course of study via the online medium with Boston University College of the Fine Arts located in Boston, Massachusetts. The program began in 2009 and over the ensuing period pertinent areas included music theory, pedagogy, philosophy, psychology and curriculum development.

According to Vanterpool, the thrust of the course was to examine alternatives to traditional approaches for the delivery of the music education and to find creative ways for their implementation. The already accomplished pianist, conductor and music teacher found great relevance in the Masters program and is looking forward to the opportunity to share what he has learnt to further advance music education on the island.

Witnessing the graduating ceremony were members of Vanterpool’s immediate family including his wife Elvarie, their son Kamal and his brother Patrick. His studies were financed by the Government of Anguilla.
