Mr. Edison Baird, former elected representative for Road North, turned up at a rally in Blowing Point on Tuesday, April 21, to endorse Mr. Curtis Richardson as the Anguilla United Front candidate in District 6, Road South.

Mr. Baird caused much surprise when he unexpectedly announced his retirement from politics and his withdrawal as the Road North independent candidate on April 8.
“If I were living in Blowing Point or South Hill, I would vote for Curtis,” he told the crowd of AUF supporters. “He is an educated man. He is a good speaker…and Curtis is a man who gets things done. I know that because we worked together in the ANSA (Anguilla Strategic Alternative) Party. I moan that that party didn’t stick together because this island of Anguilla would be a garden and jobs would be flourishing.

“I call upon all the people in South Hill and Blowing Point, in constituency six to make that transition from erratic leadership to the steady and enlightened leadership that Curtis Richardson will provide…All I have to say to you the people of Blowing Point and South Hill, vote for Curtis Richardson because Curtis gets things done. He might be a bit rough, but you need roughness in this country and I am confident he will get things done.

“I despair that I am not living in that constituency that I can vote for him; but I am taking this opportunity to endorse him. I want to let the people of South Hill and Blowing Point know that in Curtis you have a good and effective leader who will represent that constituency in the interest of Anguilla.”
