The late Mr. Richardson, 79, was the uncle of Minister of Social Services in Anguilla, Edison Baird, and his sister, Angela, an educator residing in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. He lived and worked in St. Thomas for many years. Prior to that, Mr. Richardson was a resident in St. Kitts where he was employed at S. L. Horsford& Company.

He was eulogised by Mr. Baird who spoke in glowering terms of the life and work of his uncle (who was also his adopted father). Among his many contributions to Anguilla, Mr. Baird made mention of Mr. Richardson’s ardent support for the 1967 Anguilla Revolution while residing in St. Kitts. This included his assistance to the Anguillians who invaded St. Kitts in June that year. He assisted them during their trial, up to the time of their escape and return home. Mr. Baird recalled his uncle’s arrest and deportation for showing Premier Bradshaw’s Basseterre residence to visitors, and the St. Kitts leader’s response when criticised for deporting Mr. Richardson. “I only restricted him to that part of the state called Anguilla,” Bradshaw was quoted as saying.
