Mr Editor:
WHAT CAN AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE DO WITH YOUR VOTE AFTER WINNING AN ELECTION?
1. Nothing.
2. Start a bidding war between parties.
3. After being elected, disregard the promise made to voters to seek their opinion on which way/direction to go.
4. Put a party or a group of people in power that you don’t want.
5. Sit on the opposition bench and talk – the words falling on deaf ears.
6. Become another nuisance as a replacement for a retiring one.
7. Cross the floor for personal gain.
8. Help to make laws that would be detrimental to you, the voter.
9. Become power hungry and all mighty – forgetting you the poor, hungry, lowly voter.
I beseech voters planning to vote for independent candidates to think again!
