ANGUILLA, BWI (March 31, 2015) – Long known for its signature Greco-Moorish style architecture and pristine white sand beaches, Cap Juluca continues to garner acclaim and draw top international travel journalists.
With a focus on promoting Anguilla as a top Caribbean destination, Charles and Linda Hickox – the original and current owners of the iconic Caribbean resort – once again hosted a group of respected writers and editors, including Gordon Cooper, the publisher, artistic director and editor-in-chief of Perfect Wedding Magazine; Alexandra Leshner, the assistant editor for Philadelphia Wedding magazine; Sara Liss, a writer for UrbanDaddy.com and About.com; Michael McCarthy, the editor-in-chief of DC Modern Luxury; and Jeff Williams, the contributing editor of Cigar Aficionado.
The group enjoyed three sunny days on beautiful Anguilla with a carefully planned itinerary highlighting the best of the island and the resort, including welcome cocktails at Maundays Bar, dinner and live entertainment at Spice, a private boat trip and picnic to Little Bay, tours of the newly renovated Jonquil Suite, an intimate dinner on the beach and in-room spa treatments. Guests also partook in the resort’s complimentary water sports and made quite a splash kayaking, snorkeling and stand up paddle boarding. The trip culminated with the journalists enjoying a memorable farewell dinner at Pimms – a recent recipient of the coveted Wine Spectator Award of Excellence – which The Anguillian publisher and editor Nat Hodge attended.
This latest press trip allowed the writers to see firsthand the recently completed renovation to the 3,290-square-foot Jonquil Suite, a beautifully appointed luxury villa with two master bedrooms, a sitting room, a full-service kitchen, an oceanfront dining terrace, a Jacuzzi and a private, freshwater infinity pool. Playing off the stunning natural beauty of Anguilla, the suite is appointed in a clean transitional style marked by wood-beamed ceilings, abstract artwork, bold geometric patterns and textured jute and shag rugs – with bright pops of turquoise to complement dazzling ocean panoramas.
The Hickoxes reacquired the property in May 2012 and have since invested over $15 million in enhancements throughout the resort, including upgrades to all guestrooms as well as Pimms, Spice, Blue and Maundays Bar.
The recent infusion of amenities and upgrades has resulted in a series of high profile accolades for the resort, including a 2015 Forbes Four-Star Award; the AAA Four Diamond Award (2003-2015); a ranking as the #1 Hotel in Anguilla, U.S News & World Report, 2015; a listing among the 10 Best Beach Hotels in the World,” Coastal Living, 2015; 2014 Readers’ Choice Top 50 Best Resorts in the Caribbean,” Condé Nast Traveler; a 2014 Award of Excellence, Wine Spectator; and named one of the “Top 5 Resorts in The Caribbean for Honeymoons,” Brides, 2014.
